According to the report in Medicine and Society, Liu Hongfu et al carried out an experiment of Health Qigong · Ba Dun Jin by taking university students as their Subjects. It lasted for 12 weeks, at the end of the experiment, the psychological state of the Subjects were evaluated and tested by POMS. The value of tension, anger, fatigue, depression, panic and total value obviously decreased; and among them, the decrease of tension, panic and the total value reached a remarkable level; the decrease of depression value was extremely outstanding; and the energy and self-esteem value increased yet not very notable. It indicates that Health Qigong · Ba Duan Jin is helpful to enhance the exerciser’s capability in self-control and psychological regulation. It is beneficial to the psychological development of the university students. Zhou Xinxin published her research on the Zhejiang Sports Science. In the research, she instructed her Subjects-100 girl students-to exercise Health Qigong · Ba Duan Jin for 15 weeks, and she tested six indexes of the Subjects at the beginning and end of the research, including their weight, body fat, pulse, vital capacity, sit-and-reach, and 800m running record. The results showed a significant change, which indicates that exercising Health Qigong · Ba Duan Jin can reduce the university students’ weight and body fat, increase their pulse, and enhance their vital capacity and improve their aerobic endurance and flexibility quality. Thus it brings to the conclusion that exercising Health Qigong · Ba Duan Jin can improve the overall level of the girl students’ physical function. Liu Hongfu, also, in his research which we’ve mentioned in the previous part, believes that Ba Dun Jin exercise has a significant influence on the physical body, tension and other symptoms. He said that it has a positive effect on the obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, hostility and the total values. His research indicates that Health Qigong · Ba Duan Jin is helpful to enhance the exerciser’s capability in self-control and psychological regulation. It is beneficial to the psychological development of the university students. The Massage and Rehabilitation Medicine reported that Lou Huan observes the changes of physical function index that take place for his Subjects- 80 healthy college students-before and after Health Qigong·Ba Duan Jin exercise. The result shows that, after four months’ exercise, the weight and BMI value of the Subjects decrease, while their vital capacity index and percentage of body fat increase. The result also indicates that the regular exercise of Health Qigong · Ba Duan Jin, either 30miniutes or 50 minutes for each time, can significantly improve the teenagers’ lung function and aerobic capacity. The longer the exercise time for each time, the more improvement it shall achieve in the vital capacity. In his research published in the Journal of Jiamusi College of Education, Diao Yanbin commented that Health Qigong · Ba Duan Jin is an exercise that involving the extension of the whole body and that is combined with deep breathing. It serves not only a regulating function for the inner organs, but also a health-caring function for the low back muscles and bones. It is helpful to correct the middle school students’ unhealthy postures, and to build their muscles and to strengthen their strengths.
To sum up, by exercising Health Qigong · Ba Duan Jin，a Health Qigong method that guides Qi by the mind and the static by the dynamic to promote the recycle of the Qi and blood flow, the exerciser who practices according to the mental and physical characteristics of himself, shall moisture through the whole body with fresh Qi and blood, and get rid of all kinds of diseases; Hence the essential effect of disease prevention and health caring shall be achieved. That’s why we recommend that Health Qigong · Ba Duan Jin is worthwhile to be promoted and popularized among various groups of people.
