The 1st Health Qigong workshop for instructors held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (Africa), from 29 May to 03 June 2019, unfolded with great excitement.
On the morning of May 29th, the delegation of the Chinese Health Qigong Association and the International Health Qigong Federation led by Mr Zhang Deming was warmly received at the Ministry of Sports. The meeting between the delegation of the IHQF/CHQA covered various aspects of the development of Health Qigong practice in Côte d’Ivoire. The three-member delegation (Professors Chen Chang Le, Professor Li Zhang En and Zhang Deming) also met with the Director of All-University Sports Development Committee at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. The delegation visited sports and academic authorities of Felix Houphouët Boigny University ; the largest public university in the country where they discussed the promotion of Health Qigong, both as a sport and as an academic subject, with the support of Côte d’Ivoire Health Qigong Association.

The workshop kicked off on the morning of May 30, at the Felix Houphouët Boigny University -based Confucius Institute, where the member of the CHQA/IHQF delegation Professor Chen Chang Le gave a lecture on the theoretical basis of Health Qigong and meridians. The lecture was attended by about hundred participants (Health Qigong practitioners, university teachers and sports and academic authorities).
The practical Health Qigong classes, which focused exclusively on Ma Wang Dui, Ba Duan Jin and Daoyin Yang sheng Gong Shi Er Fa, attracted about 40 participants from 5 African countries (Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana and Mali). At the end of the workshop, the IHQF/CHQA conducted a Duan examination.
Sports authorities who were present at the workshop venue, in Cocody 2 Plateaux Vallons, had the opportunity to observe the training and participants performing health qigong forms.
Many are looking forward to the next Health Qigong event.
